Cavtat - Zadar

Coastal scenery
As we've already been in Croatia a few weeks back and we are keen to get to Slovenia we primed the kids for the 4 hour drive in front of us with begging, threats and bribes.  This will take us to the halfway point on our way to Slovenia.

A quick look at the google link posted above will show you that the drive passed through a tiny strip of sea frontage (about 10kms) belonging to Bosnia Herzogovina.

Chasing the big ones
A funny thing happened to us while we were in this little bit of Bosnia.  We decided to fill the car up with diesel because we were told it was cheaper in Bosnia than Croatia.  (It wasn't.)

Because Bosnia (and Croatia) aren't in the Euro zone & we had no Bosnian marks I tried to pay for it on my credit card.  The credit card system was cactus so we had to hunt around through my wallet & Nicki's wondering what we were going to do if we couldn't find enough euro's to pay with.

Zadar waterfront
We finally scratched together some euro's to pay the bill but we only had large notes.  That then caused a problem because the bloke didn't have enough euro's to give us back our change.  In the end after running 3 sets of calculations through the abacus we got our change in Kunas.  So charged in Mark's, paid in Euro's, change in Kuna's.

That sounded a lot funnier in my head.

Drove straight through to Zadar after that which is a town on the Croatian coast.

Sunset over Ugljan - island off Zadar
We were only stopping the one night in Zadar so it was a bit of a hit and run visit for us.  We had a picnic lunch down by the marina and the kids chased the big ones again scoring a few hook ups.

Walked into the old town after that and had a look around there and the kids had another fish.

Takeaway for dinner and an early night as we've got more kilometres to cover tomorrow.

Old town Zadar

Stray observations:  Zadar, it's not Dubrovnik.
