Senj

Local fishing boat.
A nice quiet day in Senj today doing not much.  We sauntered around town for a bit this morning and had some smoko by the waterfront before wandering up to the castle that overlooks the town and the Adriatic.

The castle was quite good value with a lot of the local history on information boards inside on the walls.  The castle was once home to the mighty Uskoks who defied Venetian and Turkish rule in the 15th and early 16th centuries.

Nehaj Fortress - Senj.
Home after that for a lie down and a catch up sleep for the boys who, after nights of staying up late, really needed it.

We had a home cooked meal for dinner and walked back into town to watch the World Cup qualifying match between Croatia and Macedonia.

Fortunately Croatia read the script and after a cheeky first goal by Macedonia put two past them in the 2nd half.

A good result for the locals and we left the bar in a lot happier mood than it had been only half an hour before that.

Possibly the island of Krk in the background.
