Pula - Glavani - Pula

Temple of Augustus.
Into town this morning for a quick look at the Temple of Augustus which is a Roman building in a town square.  Originally there were three of these but this is the only one remaining from the original time.

This building sat on the left of the original triad and during an allied bombing run in WW2 it suffered a direct hit.  It was rebuilt shortly afterwards and considering it was blown up it is in remarkably good nick.

A town square. Temple on left.
Pula was once a Roman city and my cousin's husband tells me you cannot dig for potatoes without digging up some Roman artefact or archaeologically important site.  (Must be a nightmare for town planners.)

As we were walking out of town we ducked down an alley and saw a Roman mosaic which was fairly intricate.  Not very well sign posted but perhaps with Roman stuff all over the town it doesn't rank highly as a local tourist site.

Roman floor mosaic with nudework.
Drove about 30kms out of town after that to an adventure ropes course with my cousin's family.  This time Nicki and I had a crack as well.

Paulo, Ryan, Max.
Quite good fun but being a pencil-pushing, office-sitting pansy with no upper body strength it was hard work for me.

Home made pizza picnic at the adventure ropes course and home after that.

Hard yakka for a office bloke.

Home made pizza picnic.

Stray observations:  Moving a computer mouse around for 8 hours a day is not a sufficient training regime for an adventure ropes course.
