Pula

Up at sparrow's today (actually 7:15am but early enough when you are on holiday) to drop the car off at the Renault dealership.

Pula amphitheatre
Went into the city today and saw the Roman amphitheatre here by the seaside.  The 6th largest in the world and one of the most complete.  (I'm betting you didn't know Croatia had one of these.)  The kids are fascinated by anything to do with death and dying, dungeons in castles and torture so gladiators in a Roman coliseum ticked most of the boxes.

Walked from there up to a Venetian fort which sits atop of a hill in the centre of town with commanding views of the coastline.  Built by some bloke a couple of hundred years ago to protect their maritime interests.

Amphitheatre from Fort.

Grabbed some gelatis after that, a couple of cheap haircuts (€7.00 each, they wanted €20 each in Italy), and then some lunch.

Picked the car up at 4pm and paid the bill.  About $300 Oz dollars.

Hopefully insurance should cover that.

Played 5 on 5 soccer at night with some local blokes on a futsal court with artificial grass.  That was great fun but I thought I was going to have a heart attack in the first 5 minutes as I haven't played for 3 months and all the blokes I was playing with were sub 30.  Managed not to embarrass myself but I think a Croatian call up to the national squad is a little ways off.

Lunch - Dobar tek.

Roman gate to the old city.
