DNA bridge on the left, art and science building on the right and Marina Bay Sands in the background. Yes there is a pool on the roof. |
Amazing stuff. Marina Bay Sands house multiple 5 star hotels, shops, a myriad of restaurants and a casino. Singapore, being the ultimate nanny state and wanting to discourage gambling amongst the locals, has made it the law that any local must pay a $100 cover charge to walk onto the gaming floor.
Foreigners can spend as much as they like.
Enquired as to the cost to hit up the viewing platform and was told it was $82 SGD. Far too much for scabs like us on a budget.

Asked the
lady if we could partake of a snack at the eatery on the top and we were told
yes. Ordered the cheapest things on the
menu and the walked out of the café and onto the viewing platform.
We thought we were cheap but at the table
next to us a group of backpackers were sharing 1 bottle of water between 4 of
them. Still, can’t blame them as a glass
of tap beer was $21 SGD or about $17 AUD.
Rocked out
of there and into a botanical garden that must surely be the set for the
upcoming sequel to Avatar.
Stray
observations: Don’t underestimate
backpackers, they are smart.
Some more pics.
